Hello,
I have been having some problems getting ftp to work. I would prefer to use this command-line ftp program because I am used to writing scripts for .netrc. For some reason, every time I connect to my ftp server, when I issue an ls command, I receive the following message:

Code:
500 Illegal PORT command
ftp: bind: Address already in use

with each successive ls call returning only the second message. I have tried entering passive mode, and when I do another ls call, it gives the following:

Code:
227 Entering Passive Mode (205,209,130,240,191,204).

and just hangs there forever (until it times out). The most interesting part of this whole problem is that another ftp client I use (gFTP), works fine on the exact same computer. Any help bringing some illumination to the problem I am having would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention, I have two computers both running the same version of Gentoo (2.6 r6), and they both experience the exact same problem and symptoms.

There is no limit imposed by the forum software. But it frays nerves.

Please do not bump more than twice. If your post is unanswered just SHUT UP AND WAIT FOR ONE!

Also, a duplicate of https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-195766-start-0-postdays-0-postorder-asc-highlight-ftp+bind+address.html

Just goes to show how much work that the original poster spent twiddling his "Post Reply" button should have been better spent on clicking the Search link instead.

@bosshoff: bumping after say 24 hours is ok. You should however delete your old bump message if you want to avoid reactions like the above :P
Searching is the faster alternative most times.
