Hi,
As said in manuals and docs, I downloaded stage3 package, filename
stage3-pentium4-2004.3.tar.gz (84.64 MB)
Now what should I do, how to install Gentoo from stage3, it is unclear to me still.
I m really stuck , tell me or guide me....
-
I have P4, so is this Gentoo fully optimized or I should get the original one. I think the serevr from where i downloaded the file was not from the list, gentoo site has mirrors.
--
Please guide me and reply as soon as pos.
I m eager to install Gentoo.
One thing More, which filesystem will be the most perfect and best performing. I used ReiserFS with FC3 and the performance was real frustating.
--
If stage 3 also compiles files, may be lesser degree, then how much average time it takes on p4/256MB_ram
---
Thanks in advance

You will find detailed installation instructions in the Gentoo Handbook.

Oh and... the filesystem depends on what you are going to do with your system, but in most cases, you will use ReiserFS, which is especially optimized for large directories with tons of small files and for really big files (movies, CD-images and the like).

The Gentoo Handbook is the best reference for the install process.
In a nutshell, you partition your harddrives, format them, set up you network, tweak some config files, and then wait for the rest of your software to compile.
