PostPosted: Tue Mar 01, 2005 8:48 pm    Post subject: Doom3 vs ATI drivers Reply with quote

Hi,

I am a bit of a newbie with Gentoo on an Athlon64, but I can't get Doom3 to work.
I have a Radeon 9800SE and the 8.10.19 drivers and a genkernel 2.6.9-r14 running with no extra options.
Does anyone have a clue about this? Cause I'm out of ideas.

Here is my doom3 error log.
Code:

Had exactly the same problem a few days ago

your xorg.conf seems to be ok

1. switch to 2.6.10
2. change permissions of all doom3 files to 0755 (don't see this as security advice ;)
3. try start using doom3 +set sys_videoRam 128
4. d'you start d3 within a ia32 emu chroot or from x86_64 directly?
5. d'you have 24bit colors?
6. try not starting by /usr/games/bin/doom3, but using /opt/doom3/doom.x86

Look at the first line in the file, might want to fix that problem.. could cause network issues.

/etc/host.conf: line 24: bad command `mdns off'
GetLocalAddress failed: gethostbyname failed: localhost host not found

Open up your host.conf and check that out.

Thanks for the replies so far.. I don't have much time this week, but I'll have some time this weekend to solve this.

Yes I runned doom3 direct from x86_64. Should I do this from a ia32 chroot environment?
The other things, I'll look into it next weekend.

I haven't checked that file. I'll look into it next weekend.
I'll let you know.

that seems to be the solution:
Code:

export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib32/modules/dri

but it hangs/freezes my system.

:(
