Hey,

I use bittorrent (or more specifically, bittornado; net-p2p/bittornado-0.3.8 ) on my server to download *nix distro's, but as of this week it suddenly stopped working. It worked perfectly before. I was using it when the connection timed out or something, and I tried restarting it. When trying to start it from X (yes I know, i'm a fool to run X on a server, sue me :P ) it just fails 'silently', but when I try to do so from console it does this:

Code:

wxPython is either not installed or has not been installed properly.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/btdownloadgui.py", line 24, in ?
    sys.exit(1)
NameError: name 'sys' is not defined

Anyone have any idea what could have caused this and how I can fix this? I've allready tried unmerging bittornado and merging bittorrent, but that didn't help.

You're error message says wxpython not installed. Did you try:

Code:
emerge wxpython

wxpython may have gotten removed somehow.

I'm having the same issue...it also seems to be affecting ftpcube (see this thread). I've re-emerged both python and wxpython, no luck so far.

Any ideas what's going on here?

I emerged wxPython (which strangely wasn't present at all) but sadly it didn't change anything; still the same error. Guess I have the same problem as djpenguin. It would be great if this could be solved, or if someone knows a different program for handling torrents i'd like to know. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried re-emerging wxGTK?

It worked for me

See this thread: here

I've also asked the mods to put the two threads together.
