I'm trying to emerge gnome but this bloody .ebuild won't merge! It complains that:

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/../../../crti.o No such file or directory found

the same applies to:

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/crtbeginsS.o
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/crtendS.o
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/../../../crtn.o

gcc -v give me

Reading Specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5/specs

!!!

What's going on here? I had to upgrade my Linux-headers to linux26-headers after the emerge system proccess, and I think because of this I had to emerge gcc again.

Help! I've got all my hardware sorted (Sony PCG-R600HFPD) but no pretty UI!

Please post the output of the following command:
Code:
$ gcc-config -l

That might give us a launching point for more investigation.

Okay, let's see now what the contents are of the following file: /etc/env.d/05gcc

Sorry about the piecemeal approach here!

Sorry I could make a mistake here (typing by hand).

Perhaps, should I downgrade to say 3.3.4? Or would this only prolong a serious problem? I mean, why is this .ebuild complaining I have gcc-3.3.4!?

It looks like you may have a problem with your linking configuration. Try running env-update manually, then see if things still fail.

Nope, env-update does not cure the problem :(

Why can't life be simple?
