but is it worth the $99 or should I wait. I don't know why but the regular win4lin works no longer on my computer and I need it. So is it usable?

Difficult to answer.

I'll give my story:

I find win4linpro too slow for production use. I use win4lin for IE (I have to test web sites) and for some progs that simply will not work with wine or anything else. So I don't have a huge load on my computer when I use win4lin (i.e. I don't have Dreamweaver and Photoshop and god knows what running - just simple stuff).

So I find win4lin excellent for this.

Now win4linpro is simply too slow to work with. It still has problems and is, IMO, blatantly still in the beta stage of development. However, there are a couple of programmes that I wouldn't mind running but only work with win2k/xp (such as some of adobe's stuff) so I am interested in getting win2k to work for the few times I may need it.

When we were beta testing it, it came along in leaps and bounds in a very short time, both speed wise and general usability wise and I genuinely believe it will improve 10 fold in the next few months.

Is it worth paying for now - short answer is 'no'.

BUT, it is also $99 now, and will increase to $139 very shortly (a few days time I believe) and the updates for the rest of the year are guaranteed to be free.

So the question should be:

Is it worth paying $99 now for something that will improve in the next few weeks/months, or wait until it has improved and pay $139?

I think it is worth it in the long run.

That is my experience. I have also heard of people using it with no concerns at all. They like it well enough.

HTH :?
