Hello all, I am just finishing my install on my new ibook and have run into my first problem. When I reboot, yaboot starts and will boot from the cd or boot OSX. However when I want to boot my beloved linux it gives me this error:

Quote:
hd:3 /boot/kernel-2.610-r6 unkowm or corrupt filesystem

Here is my partition layout:

hda1: partition map
hda2: swap
hda3: OSX
hda4 apple bootstrap
hda5: root (reiserfs)

and here is my yaboot.conf:

Code:

boot=/dev/hda4
device=hd:/dev/hda
partition=5
delay=10
timeout=30
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot

image=/boot/kernel-2.6.10-r6
          label=Gentoo
          root=/dev/hda5
          sysmap=/boot/System.map-2.6.10-r6
          read-only

macosx=/dev/hda3
enablecdboot
enableofboot

I have double checked to make sure the name of the kernel, etc. match in /boot and in the yaboot.conf, and there have been no other errors up to this point. I am new in the PPC realm, so bare with me on this.

Thanks in advance,
~Willy

There are a few errors in your Yaboot.conf that need to be changed:
-Before you make the changes you should relocate the Bootstrap (using mac-fdisk) to partition #2, to ensure that the system boots properly
-Then follow this configuration

Code:
ofboot=hd:2
device=hd:
delay=10
defaultos=macosx (or linux, whatever you prefer)
timeout=40
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot

################

image=/boot/kernel-2.6.10-r6
      label=Linux
      root=/dev/hda5
      partition=5
      sysmap=/boot/System.map-2.6.10-r6
      read-only

################

macosx=/dev/hda3
enablecdboot
enableofboot

Additionally, I'm not sure if you need the "-r6" notation after your kernel version. Well, those changes should do the trick. One more thing. You should change your filesystem to ext3 because it is much safer / stable on the PPC platform (for now) and won't destroy your data like the Reiserf format.
