Hi
I've just installed Gentoo on my Mac Mini, everything went fine till the first bootup. It read some lines as usual then it just freeze:?
The last line before freezing are:
Code:

Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 8 ports, IRQ sharing disabled

But this aint an error message, is it?
Anyhow, is there anyone else that have had this problem or something similar that could help me solve it

Edit:
Recompiled my kernel and that problem got solved
But now it complains about not finding devfsd. And since I'm doing a networkless installation I can't emerge it:( , is there any way around this or should I just give up 'till the 2005.0 Live cd are released!?

TIA

I was assuming you were using the universal livecd, which should have a udev package available, since that is how I first put it on my system iirc.

I did/do use the universal live-cd:? All the other apps like bootloader, system logger etc emerged nicely without any trouble when I did the install

Finally I got around the freezing and udev error, but now a new error occurs when I try to login (as booth user and root):
Code:

login: PAM Failure, aborting: Critical error - immediate abort

How can I get around this? Anyone?
I'm going nuts with this ppc install:?

TIA

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-ppc.xml?full=1

Code:
Code Listing 21: Fix login problems 2004.3

First we need to add pam to our USE flags.
# nano /etc/make.conf
Now we need to re-emerge shadow, pam and pam-login.
# emerge shadow pam pam-login

Thanks, been awhile since I looked through the docs. It's about time to do it again :D
Will try this later on and see how it goes

It's a thing of beauty
Hopefully I'll have Gentoo up and running on it soon
