hey i just tried installing gen for the first time so i followed the docs the whole time and everything seemed to be going ok i did a stage 3 genkernel all that jazz and then when i rebooted i got the little boot splash ok everythings lookin good so i press enter and everythings going and then it says
Code:

determing root device
the root block device is unspeciffied or not detevted please specify a device to boot or "shell" for a shell

now im sure this is probaly something dumb or something simple but i dont know what it is :D so if anyone could help it'd be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Make sure your /boot/grub/grub.conf has as root= part in the kernel line:
Code:
kernel (hdX,X)/my_shiny_new_kernel root=/dev/hdXX

Post your current grub.conf, and your partition scheme for more help.

Try using real_root instead of real_boot (r instead of b).
