After going almost to the end, kdevelop failed with the following err(s):

grep: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: no such file or directory

also /bin/sed
sed: can't read ...libstdc++.la
and
libtool:link ... libstdc++.la is not a valid libtool archive

I believe I need to emerge or (re-emerge) the 3.3.4 library it can't find, but don't know how.

I started with a LiveCD & Packages cd installation.
packages-x86-2004.3-r1
Info listed below.

Thanks for anyone who can point me the right direction.

Try running

fix_libtool_files.sh 3.3.4

If that doesn't work, try re-emerging libtool. This is a kinda sketchy part of Gentoo, it sometimes takes some tweaking to get it working. If none of those work, you could re-emerge GCC (3.3.4 is actually an old version now anyway).
