hey gang,

I've had this problem for ages, across many gnome releases, at least 2.8 and now 2.10 and probably 2.6.
The problem is "after a while" when new files are created eg, on the desktop or deleted the icon is never created (or deleted). The only way to fix this is to do something like

Code:
killall gam_server nautilus
both restart automatically and the promptly may be fix for a while. A few hours probably.

As you can tell I'm using Gamin not famd for file monitoring. I had a other problems with famd such has 100% cpu usage or the fact that if I restarted eth0 then fam would restart and if that happened the above problem happened. I was hoping gammin fixed all this.

I'm currently running the lastest ~x86 version gamin-0.0.26 as the previous versions have this problem

Has anyone had this?

Yup, guarantee not included. There is another thread for this somewhere...... Here it is:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-311800-highlight-inotify.html

It includes a patch that is supposed to fix this but some are reporting it still doesn't work. I have a similiar problem since I upgraded from 2.6.8-gentoo to 2.6.11-gentoo on my laptop. I haven't tried the patch.
