Hello,
I've got a simple question. I just emerged xscreensaver for my laptop. Before, my laptop would blank the screen after 3 or 4 minutes of idlness, now I want it to go to xscreensaver if I am on AC power, if I'm on battery, I want it to behave as before (blanking the screen after several minutes). Does anyone know how I can do this?
Thanks!

ok,
that was a little helpful. But I've got more questions. After I restart my computer and login, I have to run
Code:
xscreensaver-demo
before it will work. I tried doing
Code:

etc/init.d/xscreensaver-de
but it wasn't there, so what do I add to make it start automatically? Also, is there a way I can use 2 different .xscreensaver files? 1 for when I am running on batteries and 1 for when I am running off of wall power?

You can add this line:
Code:
xscreensaver -no-splash 2>/dev/null >/dev/null &
to your ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession (or both (-:) — it depends on how you start X–server. That will start XScreenSaver together with X–server.

I don't have a .xinitrc or a .xsession file, so I put added that line to my .fvwm2rc start up function.

I think you should read this thread. It is a better solution to start the daemon IMO.
