due to strange masking php5 is hard masked now and i get with that more problems as its maybe prevents
in the gentooway there should be an option to manual disable that mask but even when I remove it on next sync its there again

how can i keep php5

grrrrrrrrrrrr

!!!All ebuilds that could satisfy "=mod_php-5.0.3" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-php/mod_php-5.0.3 (masked by: package.mask)
# Stuart Herbert <stuart@gentoo.org> (12th march 2005)
# automatically activates ZTS mode when any threaded MPMs are installed,
# even if mpm_prefork is the default

dont work as mask > unmask

What do you mean?

Just copy over the exact same line from package.mask into package.unmask.

I said, copy the exact same line from package.mask into package.unmask. Use grep to help you if unsure:
Code:

shrek@maximus ~ $ grep mod_php /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask
=dev-php/mod_php-5*
shrek@maximus ~ $ emerge -pv mod_php

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
[ DEPENDENCIES OMITTED ]
[ebuild  N    ] dev-php/mod_php-4.3.10-r1  +X -apache2 -berkdb -crypt +curl -debug -doc -fdftk -firebird -flash -freetds -gd -gd-external -gdbm -gmp -hardenedphp -imap -informix -ipv6 -java +jpeg -kerberos -ldap -mcal -memlimit -mssql -mysql +nls -oci8 -odbc -pam -pdflib +png -postgres +qt -snmp +spell +ssl +tiff +truetype -xml2 -yaz 3,932 kB
[ POST DEPENDENCY OMITTED ]
Total size of downloads: 11,936 kB
shrek@maximus ~ $ su
Password:
maximus shrek # echo =dev-php/mod_php-5* >> /etc/portage/package.unmask
maximus shrek # emerge -pv mod_php

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ DEPENDENCIES OMITTED ]
[ebuild  N    ] dev-php/mod_php-5.0.3-r2  -adabas -apache2 -bcmath -berkdb -birdstep -bzlib -calendar -cdb -cpdflib -crypt -ctype +curl -curlwrappers -db2 -dba -dbase -dbm -dbmaker -dbx -debug -dio -empress -empress-bcs -esoob -exif +fam -fdftk -filepro -firebird -flatfile -frontbase -ftp -gd -gd-external -gdbm -gmp -hyperwave-api -iconv -imap -informix -ingres -inifile -iodbc +jpeg -kerberos -ldap -libedit -mcve -memlimit -mhash -mime -ming -mnogosearch -msession -msql -mssql -mysql -mysqli +ncurses -nis +nls -oci8 -odbc -oracle7 -ovrimos -pcntl -pcre -pfpro +png -posix -postgres -qdbm +readline -recode -sapdb -sasl -session -sharedext -sharedmem -simplexml -snmp -soap -sockets -solid +spell -spl -sqlite +ssl -sybase -sybase-ct -sysvipc +threads -tidy +tiff -tokenizer +truetype -wddx -xml2 -xmlrpc -xpm -xsl +zlib 4,499 kB

The moral of the story is: the package.unmask line has to be 100% identical to, and exactly the same as the line in package.mask.

Not really. Just listing dev-php/mod_php would also have worked, but dev-php/mod_php5 is a completely different package name to portage. But just copy+paste from package.mask is probably the easiest for most people.
