Hi
I have a Mac G4 (it has OS9.2 on at the moment but will do not need it or any other data that already exists) - I have downloaded and burned the Universal PPC ISO

I put the CD in the drive and then boot while holding 'C'

I go through the drivers et al finding correctly except in the Network Dept "Starting pbbuttonsd..." has '!!' instead of 'OK'

So i type mac-fdisk /dev/hda

I then type 'p' to see what is there

I have HDA1 which is the Apple Partition Map

I have HDA2 which looks like the CD

I try to add a new partition by typing 'b' and get the error message

Map is not rewriteable or the like

I think I may need to umount drives or something similar but I am totally stuck st the moment

Please help

I do not get to state G4 or any other settings on boot

it just goes to the Livecd (red font) root # (blue font)

sorry and thanks and sorry again :(

When I boot I do not get any boot prompt - i do not get to choose g3, g4 or g5 on powerup

The first time i see anything is when the fricken penguin comes up in the top left and it has :

PCI - blah
HDA1 - Blah
HDA2 Blah

there or there abouts :)

and then it goes straight to the livedcd root # prompt

is this right - should i get to choose g3, g4 pr g5 as per instructions?

a beer for the man (or lady) that helps :)
