Hi,

I've x86 current system. After last bigger upgrade (about 50 packages) I have problem with mpd (I've tried various version including mpd-svn). Start is OK, but when I want control it with any client (mpc/ncmpc/netcat) - client says 'connection close' after it sends several commands. Mpd still playing, but mpd process which listens and comunications with clients doesn't run. Logs don't say anything about fall/problem.

Next symptom after upgrade has postfix:

Code:

Feb 22 15:06:00 shadow postfix/smtpd[31388]: connect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Feb 22 15:06:00 shadow postfix/smtpd[31388]: lost connection after CONNECT from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Feb 22 15:06:00 shadow postfix/smtpd[31388]: disconnect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Feb 22 15:19:34 shadow postfix/smtpd[31828]: connect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Feb 22 15:19:34 shadow postfix/smtpd[31828]: lost connection after CONNECT from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Feb 22 15:19:34 shadow postfix/smtpd[31828]: disconnect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Mar 31 13:29:49 shadow postfix/smtpd[32474]: connect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Mar 31 13:29:49 shadow postfix/smtpd[32474]: lost connection after CONNECT from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Mar 31 13:29:49 shadow postfix/smtpd[32474]: disconnect from localhost[127.0.0.1]

I think, It could be related with mpd connection problems.

I've checked upgraded packages and the most suspect is glibc(2.3.4.20041102-r1), but downgrade seems to be impossible.

thanks for any suggestions or ideas.

I can reproduce the issue in this way:

Code:

# /etc/init.d/mpd start
$ mpc add 'moby/Moby - Lift Me Up(1).mp3'
adding: moby/Moby - Lift Me Up(1).mp3
$ mpc status
volume: 95%   repeat: off   random: off
$ mpc play
moby/Moby - Lift Me Up(1).mp3
[playing] #1/1   0:00 (0%)
volume: 95%   repeat: off   random: off
$ mpc status
MPD_HOST and/or MPD_PORT environment variables are not set
error: problems getting a response from "localhost" on port 6600 : Connection refused

Mpd plays this song, but doesn't listen and I cann't send any command.

i that's a bit different than my problem. for me, mpc randomly says "error: connection refused".

it could be mpc. does it happen with other clients?
