Has anyone else observed this behavior? My G5 is up and running ppc64; I got Gnome working (after some fiddling), and things are reasonably stable (epiphany will crash from time to time when I scroll too fast). I couldn't make up my own kernel config and took the one from the install CD. Unfortunately, it doesn't have three-button-mouse emulation enabled by default, and when I tried to compile a kernel after enabling it, it always crashed with a message about an undeclared variable "_MACH_chrp." I ended up just deleting the offending lines from adhbid.c, and the kernel compiled (and runs) fine. Here's what I did:
Code:
 1157a1158,1162
> #ifndef CONFIG_MAC
>       if ( (_machine != _MACH_chrp) && (_machine != _MACH_Pmac) )
>           return 0;
> #endif

Not sure if this was the right approach, but it worked (for the time being).

you could post this to the ppc64 dev mailing list and see what they think.
