Hi, I got the following Error in apache error_log :

[Fri Apr 01 16:03:29 2005] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin/suexec2)
Syntax error on line 6 of /usr/lib/apache2/conf/modules.d/70_mod_php.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2-extramodules/libphp4.so into server: /usr/X11R6/lib/libidn.so.11: R_PPC_REL24 relocation at 0x0c4baf58 for symbol `malloc' out of range

Well, hm, I looks realy like an PPC - Error with the PPC. And its not only this version which drives me crazy.
Before I upgrade tp apche 2.0.53 I used (yes, shame on me, but you know : never touch a running system..)2.0.48 with a mod_php 4.2.x and that was running with phpNuke, eGroupware and mediaWiki (yes, masked for the ppc in version 1.3, also in the past, by the way : why ? With mod_php4 it runned perfectly on the ppc...).

mod_php5 behaves well fpr php5, but, Software like phpNuke, eGroupware and MediaWiki relies on php4 as long as they are not ported good enough for php5. Well, it runs, but sometimes a little bit unexpected...

These are the question :
- Am I the only one with this probs ?
- and, any hint for mod_php4 for getting mod_php4 back on the system are welcome...
- well, due to the ' /usr/X11R6/lib/libidn.so.11:' i'd re-emerged, just for the case. no solution ....

The problem is : we like to run also in a test-envirionment tikiwiki on PostGreSQL (with php ADOdb) that was the reason for the upgrade activities, normaly, we don't touch running systems as long as possible......

Possibly, just a try, a feeling not more, -O2 just to, ehm, aggressive for this mod_php4 4.3.10 in this state ?
I guess, this malloc Error

hm cant help here really - just wanted to report that i have apache2, mod_php and mysql running on my mini without problems (all stable ppc marked version).

but i would check 70_mod_php.conf i guess there shouldnt be any syntax errors in it. is this problem occurring at apache startup or while operating some php?

but, yes, it needs a little bit more then APACHE_OPTS="-D PHP4" in the /etc/conf.d/apache2, because, these ebuild seems to be a litte bit , äh, strange ?

The error reported happend at a call to the libphp4, means, each time by processing a *.php? file, for example index.php.
Apache starts normaly and doesn't show up the error (apache by itselfs doesn't call a *.php? by default when coming up).

Cheers
Frank
