Is it advantageous to have a separate /boot partition? If so, why?

Now that grub can boot from reiserfs without the "notail" option, it kinda takes away part of the necessity that previously existed for reiserfs users...

Some people like a seperate /boot because they're less likely to clobber the contents accidentally if it's not mounted. I'd just keep a livecd handy and not worry about it.
