when i emerge kde xorg-x11 fails and give me this message /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5/../../../../i386-pc-linux-gni/bin/ld: cannot find -lfl
collect2: id returned 1 exit status. Also when i run genkernel i get an error with the module but don't know what it is?

err some punctuation would be nice. do you mean "when i emerge kde, xorg-x11 fails" or do you mean:

when I

emerge kde xorg-x11
it fails and gives me this message

Please clarify what the genkernel error is. Getting an error with a module doesn't really tell us much.

I would get the kernel guide in the gentoo docs and compile it properly, if you use linux you are going to have to learn to compile a kernel at some point. That will mean you should compile all of what you need into([*]) the kernel instead of all as modules [M](which is what genkernel does).

Try to do your kernel manually and ask back on th forums if you run into trouble.

ps, just dont forget to compile your net card and file system into the kernel, that way you can sort all other problems out through here (IOW you will boot and get on the net)
