How can I get a complete list of the packages that emerge has installed? Is this stored in a file somewhere that I can view?

`qpkg -I -nc` if you have gentoolkit, quicker than emerge -ep world and more accurate than cat'ing your world file.

emlist.py

Code:

#!/usr/bin/env python

import os, sys
from os.path import join
from output import green, blue
vartree = "/var/db/pkg"
catlist = os.listdir(vartree)
catlist.sort()
for item in catlist:
    sys.stdout.write(green(item+"\n"))
    pkglist = os.listdir(join(vartree, item))
    for elem in pkglist:
        sys.stdout.write(blue(elem+"\n"))
