I have done a new installon my new HDD i have followed each & every step in the 2005.0 doc.
& i have installed gentoo on many machines.
but today when i installed gentoo 2005 i did not get pkgs for hotplug, coldplug, wvdial and many more.
these pkgs are missing fom the live CD
i would love to know the reason why these are missing although coldplug is in the Docs.
after this disaster when i installed the rest & rebooted my system it gave me a huge error.
Code:

>> Mounting filesystems
mount: Mounting devfs on /dev failed: No such device
Error opening file: ".devfsd" No such file or directory

>>Determining root device...
>>Block device /dev/hda6 is not a valid root device...
>>The root block device is unspecified or not detected.
Please specify a device to boot, or "shell" for a shell...
boo()::

i just wanna know what is this happening to my gentoo installtion.

I do believe you did not compile with devfs support. So, either rebuild your kernel with devfs support or move over to a udev system....

This is a genkernel error -- the initrd was not created correctly.

You can probably bypass the initrd by booting with "root=/dev/hda6" instead of "root=/dev/ram0 real_root=/dev/hda6 init=/linuxrc"
