Hi all i have problem with diskspace in my root partition.Exactly my root partition is 7.8GB and i have only 600MB free in it.
So i start to think ways to reduce my disk usage.I had emerged slocate in the past and i think if i can delete it's database.Also in /proc i have one file named kcore and i don't know what it is and it is about 1GB.Can i delete it?Any suggestions?

remove the downloaded source files from /usr/portage/distfiles

Well /usr/portage/distfiles is in an another partition.Any other suggestion?Well kcore shows me that this is something to do with bug i don't know.Any help?

Try to get an idea which dir is the problem.
Code:
cd /root
du -ms */
cd biggest dir
du -ms */
etc etc

There are also some gui tools for this, but don't know their names :)

/proc is not a physical filesystem. the files in that directory don't actually exists. so even if you could delete them (which i think you probably can't) it wouldn't really matter.
some good places to check for files hogging space would be :

/var/tmp/portage - failed builds leave a mess
/tmp - probably can clean out but double check to make sure
/var/log - log files may become inflated dues to error messages. had them grow to ~3gb at times 8O
