OK, just wondering, what is a good GUI to use? I know there's KDE and Gnome, but I have no idea how good those are and what other GUIs are out there. I'm basicly looking for what everyone looks for, speed, compatibility, and good looks. But mostly speed. Anyway, just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction, thanks!

Give XFce a try. It's not very mainstream, but has a solid fanbase. http://xfce.org

Don't listen to anyone's opinion. Try several and pick the one you like best.

I would recommend at least trying the following Desktop Environments:
KDE
Gnome

And then trying at least the following Window Managers:
Enlightenment DR16 (DR17 is not even close to being finished -- many features don't exist or don't work)
Fluxbox

THERE ARE MANY MORE that you may want to try too.

Sorry to all those whose favorite DE or WM isn't listed :)
