I've never had to run 'ofpath' on my ibook, and that seems to be the point when it's breaking.

It seems like ybin is working properly. What happens when you just ignore the error and keep installing?

As an aside, I've never gotten yabootconfig --chroot to work right, even if it doesn't return any errors. You might want to make your own /etc/yaboot.conf file. Also, you don't have to run ybin unless you change /etc/yaboot.conf or re-compile the kernel.
