i was looking into getting a powerbook recently, and was wondering if the nvidia drivers or ati drivers (yes the acctual ones not the xorg ones) work on these notebooks

and if they do work what kind of fps do u get, does doom 3 run in a ati or nvidia go with 64 megs of ram ?

Currently the ATI & nVidia drivers are closed source, and only available for x86. It available for PPC, but only for OS X.

So no, you have to use the ones with xorg.

As you are going to have to use xorg drivers, I strongly suggest getting an ATI model.

from what ive learned nvidia drivers on gentoo work extremly well on x86 but not on ppc

but now xorg does however work with ati

but xorg is trash for dri acceleration

too bad nvidia or ati didnt have support for mac

but u are right as much as i hate ati cause right now i have a radeon mobility and have to use xorg drivers instead of the ati ones, ati in this case would be best
