While attempting to install the 2005.0 build on a Sun W1100Z workstation with an AMD Opteron 150 CPU, I keep running into the following error after running /usr/portage/scripts/bootstrap.sh (step 6d in the amd64 install guide - transitioning from Stage 1 to Stage 2):
Code:
# emerge --emptytree system

cd misc && make DESTDIR="" all

Although at first glance it appears the c++ directory is the cause of the problem, I can successfully get to the path mentioned in the error message. All directories seem to be okay from a "cd .." perspective as well. Shouldn't be any permissions problems either.

Here's my make.conf
Code:

CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=opteron -pipe -O2"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j2"

Anyone have any clues?

Do you have USE-Flags? What's the output of 'emerge info'?

The problem turned out to be an issue with gcc. After emerging gcc, the ncurses (and system) installation continued just fine.

You are still talking about your Opteron-system? It's 64bit.

Then your settings are completely wrong:

Code:

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86"
AUTOCLEAN="yes"
CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"

should be

Code:

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64"
AUTOCLEAN="yes"
CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -pipe -O3 -fforce-addr -ftracer -funit-at-a-time -funswitch-loops -fpeel-loops"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"

Unfortunately you cannot change the CHOST anymore after bootstrap, so you have to start again... :cry:

Take care with the correct stage-files. Take the ones for x86_64!

[EDIT]
Sorry, ups. You're another guy. Please start a new thread. Never add your problem to a closed thread. Thanks.
[/EDIT]
