I'm installing from a stage 2 tarball onto a loopback device mounted reiserfs filesystm. Everything was rolling along fine until xorg-x11 then I received the following error:

Code:
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lfl
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[4]: *** [pswrap] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1/work/xc/config/pswrap'
make[3]: *** [../../config/pswrap/pswrap] Error 2
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1/work/xc/lib/dps'
make[2]: *** [includes] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1/work/xc/lib'
make[1]: *** [includes] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1/work/xc'
make: *** [World] Error 2

To me it looks like I have multiple problems. I used the make.conf file from my current running installation of gentoo. My CFLAGS are modest:
Code:
CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"

Will I get more meaningful errmessages if I get rid of -fomit-frame-pointer?

My USE variable is... well I dunno:
Code:
USE="i8x0 nvidia nptl acpi X a52 aac avi bash_completion bcmath bzlib zlib cdr dga divx4linux dvdread fam ffmpeg gpm guile imap imlib gcj javascript ncurses opengl ogg flac php posix python tcpd tcltk vhosts truetype tiff vorbis win32codecs wifi xine xpm xvid cups foomaticdb ppds usb other_var1 other_var2 mmx gui oss evms2 kde qt aavm dvb jpeg samba ipv6 xml gtk gtk2 gnome alsa -esd 3dnow mpeg mp3 mad java dvd dvdr xv sdl gimpprint quicktime"

I am using no ACCEPT_KEYWORDS, so that's not the problem. I've chroot'ed after unpacking the tarball and source'ed /etc/profile and env-updated. As I mentioned many packages installed well. I'ved searched the forums and googled for the first error message and found nothing. What lib am I missing for starters and does anybody know what the second error means? I can usually find a lead and figure these things out but I'm stumped here. Just give me a hint and I'll do the work.

Thanks

I just found a post where somebody else was having one of the error messages that I had and a response requested emerge --info, so here it is:

Thank you very much. I emerged flex and am resuming my install right now. I will visit the thread you provided. Once again, thanks. Hopefully, that will resolve my other issues?

xorg-x11 completed building AFIK. I'm using emwrp.sh, so it was building my toolchain first, but now it is building binutils again and now it is on to gtk+. I'm unsure of the logic here, but I am confident that my original issues are solved. Thanks for the quick reply and easy fix.
