I have two HDs:
1 - 120GB NTFS drive with a new installation of Windows XP Pro (Primary Master) (/dev/hda1)
2 - 60GB NTFS drive with an old installation of Windows XP Pro (Primary Slave) (/dev/hdb1)

I am trying to install on the 60GB drive.

I get through creating the partitions for /dev/hdb. I am trying to use reiserfs, which completes successfully. I can use 'mkswap /dev/hdb2' command w/o any problems. However, when I type 'swapon /dev/hdb2' I get an error message saying: "swapon: /dev/hdb2: Device or resource busy".

I've also noticed that if I try to mount I get the following results:
'mount /dev/hdbX /mnt/gentoo' => 'mount: /dev/hdbX already mounted or /mnt/gentoo/ busy'

Any attempt to 'umount /dev/hdbX' or 'umount /mnt/gentoo' results in:
"umount: /path/typed/in/: not mounted"

This is where I am stuck. No point in continuing the installation from here since nothing is mounted. Anyone have any idea about how to solve this?

I found the solution from this post:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-326130-highlight-swapon.html

When the gentoo live CD first boots up press F1 to choose a kernel and type "gentoo nolvm2"[/url]

Moved from Installing Gentoo in favour of the above mentioned thread and merged follow up to that thread.
