Ok, I set up everything and am using gdm as my login manager and e16 as my wm. If I look in as root, it lest me into enlightenment flawlessly, however if I try to login as a non root user x crashes. However if I use a nested login from root, it lest me in, but then on the way out, x crashes...

Is there anything different in the .xinitrc for root and for the other users (if that file exist)?

That file is located (in case it exist, of course) on each home dir. For root it would be /root/.xinitrc, for a imaginary user called '6thpink' it would be into /home/6thpink/.xinitrc.

That file came to mind because it is the responsible for starting some programs when starting X, it is a 'per user stting' meaning that each user can have its own. Anyway that file does not get there if you do not put it, so if you did not hear about it befor is very unlekely that thas can be the problem.

I don't know what to think... It's too late, if something more comes to mind I will let you know.

BTW,does it happens with all users? And if you create a new user with a new (clean of config files) home dir? still hangs?

hmm, havn't tried creating a fresh user yet, but that would be the first successful login under the user im trying to use.

here is the xsession-errors file my user is fuag155555 and has never logged in before.

Code:

/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/bin/X11/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/gdm/:0.Xservers" -$
/etc/X11/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
/etc/X11/gdm/Xsession: Setup done, will execute: /usr/bin/ssh-agent -- starte16

hope it helps, sorta sux to run as root.

Ok, moved from Installing Gentoo to dupes in favour of https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-335301.html.

Please could you report the thread so it can be moved next time, rather than starting a new one.
