I've been using KDE for a quite a long time. Konqueror rocks as the file manager and web browser.
Then I switch to the FVWM, and familliar with do any thing from a terminal window. But I still need a
file manager for daily use, I searched the forum, and choosed Rox. Rox is damn fast, and based on
gtk2. However, the GUI is not my cup of tea. Could you suggest some file manager ?

1) Depends on gtk2 or gtk. No gnome or kde dependence.
2) fast
3) looks very intuitive, just like Mac OSX's Finder.

Thanks.

It's still useful to keep konqueror around no matter which WM you choose.

mc, xnc are fairly powerful

xfe is intuitive in a windows explorer sort of way

Rox has decent features. But I agree, the interface sucks. Or at least, it's far from "really nice" as some loony people seem to think.

I do most file management via terminal but I like nautilus when used with:

Code:
nautilus --no-desktop --browser

If you do not need crappy icons, use 'gentoo' then. Pretty fast, gtk-based and quite intuitive even with the default settings.
