Hi all,

I have a new amd64 system that just finished "bootstrap.sh -f" and is working on "emerge --emptytree system" (moving from Stage 2 to Stage 3). sys-libs/ncurses-5.4-r6 dies with this error:

Code:
make[1]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/ncurses-5.4-r6/work/narrowc/c++'
cd ../obj_s;   -I../c++ -I../include -I/var/tmp/portage/ncurses-5.4-r6/work/ncurses-5.4/c++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I/var/tmp/portage/ncurses-5.4-r6/work/ncurses-5.4/c++/../include -I. -I../include  -D_GNU_SOURCE -DNDEBUG -O3 -march=k8 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fPIC -c /var/tmp/portage/ncurses-5.4-r6/work/ncurses-5.4/c++/cursesf.cc
/bin/sh: line 1: -I../c++: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [../obj_s/cursesf.o] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/ncurses-5.4-r6/work/narrowc/c++'
make: *** [all] Error 2

make.conf:
CFLAGS="-O3 -march=k8 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j2"

I did search and find other ncurses problems.. but the closest thread to what I have was solved by emerging gcc... and my first dependancy for gcc is ncurses, bah!:

Ideas?

Thanks!

Aronek

Replying to myself: after reading some other docs, I thought I could be sneaky and I could do this to avoid the -r6 version of ncurses:

Code:
echo ">=sys-libs/ncurses-5.4-r6" >> /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask

...but, it made no difference... it still died with exactly the same error when it used -r5.

Found this:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-299349.html

I didn't read the instructions carefully enough: I did the "bootstrap.sh -f" but didn't run the second "bootstrap.sh" right after.

Things are happily compiling away right now...
