I'm installing 2005.0 on a beige, oldworld G3.

I'm using BootX since its my only option (I think). My Mac partition is 9.0.

Everything went just fine until I exited from the chroot and executed "mount /dev/hdc6 /mnt/mac -t hfs". Then it only allows me to mount the filesystem read-only; it says the the volume is "locked." So, I can't copy the kernel over to the System Folder.

How do I go about unlocking the partition? Can it be done from linux? Is there a tool that will unlock the partition from within MacOS?

Thanks a lot!

You can try passing "-o rw" to mount which should force it read/write. You can also check your dmesg to see if there were any messages when you mounted the drive which might help to solve the problem.

Okay, a little more info. When I type

Code:

mount -o rw /dev/hdc6 /mnt/mac -t hfs

I get this back:

Code:

hfs: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted.
HFS-fs warning: Filesystem was not cleanly unmounted, running fsck.hfs is recommended.  mounting read-only.
HFS-fs warning: Filesystem is marked locked, mounting read-only.

So I googled around and found that if I ran hfsck I cleared up the first warning, but it'll still only mount read-only.

I can use hpmount /dev/hdc6 and it seems to mount it, but I have no idea where to go from there, or where it even gets mounted.

I figured it out. I had a HFS+ partition on the Mac side, not HFS.

Apparently linux can't write to HFS+, though it can read it. So I reformatted the Mac partition as hfs and everything is working great.
