hi,

ive just upgraded my fileserver to gcc-3.3.5-20050130, aside this version theres also gcc-3.4.3-20050110 installed.

ive tried to emerge distcc with both of them, no change :(

how i changed the versions:
gcc-config -l, gcc-config i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.5-20050130 | i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.4.3-20050110 && env-update && source /etc/profile

it seems that binutils is not affected,configure finishes and make starts...
im lost :(, any ideas?

The information was all in the config.log that you posted:
Code:
configure:1790: checking for C compiler default output file name
configure:1793: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -march=i686-pc-linux-gnu -pipe -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer   conftest.c  >&5
cc1: error: bad value (i686-pc-linux-gnu) for -march= switch

i686-pc-linux-gnu is an invalid option for -march; I think you were looking for i686. However, since you have a Pentium 4 (according to your emerge --info output) you might as well use -march=pentium4.

Moved from Portage & Programming in favour of the FAQ: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-294109.html
