Hi guys!

I have an unusal problem, and i may be doing this wrong but what the hell ill see what you guys have to say.

I have a GeForce MX440 using nvida drivers.
My current resolutin is 1400x1050 which i find a bit smaller then usual for me

Anyways i want to configure my screen resolution to 1024x768. So i go to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and configure under Section "screen" and set Modes "1024x768" and that should do the trick....i think. but it didn't.

Code:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
        Device     "Card0"
        Monitor    "Monitor0"
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport   0 0
                Depth     24
                Modes    "1024x768"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

So then I ran xorgcfg and then clicked on configure monitor and then i set it to 1024x768 @ 87Hz for some reason it keeps defaulting to 800x600 resolution ( I DON'T KNOW WHY!). So, none of that worked. So then i chose the option " Monitor that can do 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz, and saved file (saves to xorg.conf). Restart, log back in and I then enter the command at terminal xdpyinfo | grep dimension and recieve dimensions: 1400x1050 pixels (320x240 millimeters) (resolution should be 1280x1024 but its not! and why would it be 1400x1050? Screen resolution is still 1400x1050). I then check xorg.conf after it dosen't put any Modes " 1280x1024 " but changes HorizSync 30.5 - 71.0 VertRefresh 50.0 - 160.0 in Screen "monitor"., If i change those numbers under Screen "monitor", that changes my resolution.
My point is, what exactly is the command to change to screen resolution? im stuck and a bit confused as I have read the documentation on gentoo about Code Listing 4.1: Changing the Screen section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and that didn't work. :\

I hope I didn't confuse you guys.

Any comments would be great! :)
