hello,

I have a dual boot system with windows xp and gentoo, however no matter what i've tried I cannot get ordinary users read access to my ntfs drives, only root has access. I've tried adding user and users to the options in /etc/fstab and that doesn't work either. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated, i'm stumped.

here's my /etc/fstab file:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.

# <fs> <mountpoint> <type> <opts> <dump/pass>

# NOTE: If your BOOT partition is ReiserFS, add the notail option to opts.
/dev/hda5 / ext3 defaults,noatime 1 2
/dev/hda6 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/winxp ntfs users,ro,noatime 0 0
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/media_whore ntfs users,ro,noatime 0 0
/dev/hdc1 /mnt/test ntfs users,rw,noatime 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom auto user,noauto 0 0
#/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto 0 0

# NOTE: The next line is critical for boot!
none /proc proc defaults 0 0

none /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0

---------------------------

some of the comment lines were omitted to save space.

I've tried to chmod the folder and it just resets the permissions when I remount the partitions.
