To start, this is my first post here, and I am a gentoo noob, though I have been using SuSE for quite a while. See the signature for my hardware.

All emerges fail as the following example, even though I have not attempted to update my system.

bash-2.05b# emerge gimp
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 2) gnome-extra/libgtkhtml-2.6.1 to /
* It appears you have switched to the 2005.0 profile without following
* the upgrade guide. Please see the following URL for more information:
* http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/amd64/2005.0-upgrade-amd64.xml

This started today, and I think the most recent emerges were the app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs and others in that directory. In spite of having installed from a 2005.0 stage 1, I tried the instructions on the given website, but they of course fail because they require emerges, and for me, portage seems to be universally f*cked.

I get the same error when trying to remove a package.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Edit: Since my browser is not showing the signature for some reason (it is enabled in the profile), here is my hardware:

From /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/2005.0/profile.bashrc

What exactly are these conditions that it is checking? If I simply comment this section out, emerge appears to be working as normal, but since I do not really know anything about what I am doing aside from the fact that it appears to work, I would like a second opinion and possibly a better way to fix this problem.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads in favour of 'Switched to 2005.0 profile without following upgrade guide'.
