I realize this is probably more an OS X issue than a gentoo one, but considering the quality of the replies one gets on macosxhints.com, I really think it is more likely to find help here. Sorry if this message
does not belong here.

When I started using MOL to run OS X 10.3.9, I got this funny error when I got to the GUI login "You cannot continue logging in at this time." then I clicked OK and everything seemed fine.

This happened about 3 times. Now I get a kernel panic or a hard lockup as soon as I type my password and hit enter or click the login button. I have repaired permissions and reset my user/administrator passwords. It's not just the GUI. Entering ">console" as my username and then trying to log into the console gives me a kernel panic right after typing the password and pressing enter.

There is nothing in /private/var/log and I can't find a panic.log anywhere on my OS X partition. I don't think I've installed any OS X software as I hardly ever use it.

I have done some more testing and found that this is some kind of security/paranoia/corrupt prefs issue:

I created a new user and can log in fine as the new user. This is a tolerable solution, but not very convenient having to move stuff around and reregister shareware. Oh well.

Hi,
i know that this post is quite old, but here i read about this "You cannot continue logging in at this time.": it has happened to me sometimes since i use macosx&gentoo. Since now i have not had any kind of problem, but why do i get that message??
i used to mount hsf+ data partition (in which i also have my macosx home) with rw access (using force mount option..): when i tried to run startmol -X, i just couldnt login because of that "You cannot continue logging in at this time.". Then i mounted hsf+ partition with no rw access and everything was ok with mol. is this fs issue related with the message when i login directly from osx?

thx for the explanetion :) [/bug][/code]

You *cannot* have a partition OSX will use mounted at the same time in Linux when using MOL. Think about it, when MOL writes to the disk, linux wouldn't know about it and vice versa. It's a very dangerous situation, don't do it!

Yes i know that, JoseJX :) , but i also have another problem: when i boot in osx sometimes it happens that i got the message "You cannot continue logging in at this time.". why?
i've received this message since i use gentoo (not mol) and i've used that mount option to write on the hfs+ disks..
