Hello,

after having trouble with installing a new kernel on my SuSE box, I tried gentoo last week.

Unfortunately, I am stuck with a problem. I installed gentoo using the 2005.0 cd.
After the installation I updated my portage tree and tried an `emerge -avuD system´.

Most of the packages compiled without any problem, but updating gcc failed:

[...]
* Compiling gcc ...
/var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.3.5.20050130-r1/work/build /var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.3.5.20050130-r1/work/build /var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.3.5.20050130-r1/work/gcc-3.3.5
* Running make LDFLAGS="" STAGE1_CFLAGS="-O" LIBPATH="/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5-20050130" BOOT_CFLAGS=" -O2" profiledbootstrap
make: *** No rule to make target `profiledbootstrap'. Stop.

!!! ERROR: sys-devel/gcc-3.3.5.20050130-r1 failed.
!!! Function gcc_do_make, Line 1184, Exitcode 2
!!! emake failed with profiledbootstrap

I googled the internet but found no solution for my problem except for the advice
not to change CHOST. Well, I did not change the CHOST at anytime during installation.

My box has an Athlon-XP 1800 and /etc/make.config is:

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j2"

Can anyone help me?

Torsten
