What you need to do is post the lines above, that show what actually went wrong...

As well as the results of "emerge info", maybe.

Cut & paste is your friend. Could I get a few more lines of error messages?

Damn... Now I can't scroll up far enough to see the messages. And how do you copy and paste on the command line? That would be useful.

Try doing the package emerge with FEATURES="-strict" and see if it works.

Also, if your mouse is working, all you have to do is highlight the text with the left mouse button, then leave it highlighted, switch over to a different virtual terminal, position the cursor, and press the middle mouse button, and it will copy the text for you.

Shift + PageUp or up arrow. Your scrollback buffer might not be long enough though.

This usually happens if you start with a stage1 tarball, and then skip the bootstrap.sh step. Bootstrap needs to be done before you can "emerge system".
