Does anyone know how to configure yaboot.conf for dual linux such as ubuntu and gentoo on PPC ibook.

i share the same boot partition and swap -> common sense.

mac-fdisk : P

hda1 apple_map
hda2 bootstrap
hda3 swap
hda4 root(gentoo)
hda5 root(ubuntu)

does anyone know?

note: i DO NOT need all the fancy stuff such as boot with CD, init-msg, etc.
i just want it to boot both.

Try something along the following line:
Code:

image=/boot/vmlinux-<your-gentoo-version>
        partition=4
        label=gentoo
        root=/dev/hda4
        sysmap=/boot/System.map-<your-gentoo-version>
        read-only
image=/boot/vmlinux-<your-ubuntu-version>
        partition=5
        label=ubuntu
        root=/dev/hda5
        sysmap=/boot/System.map-<your-ubuntu-version>
        read-only

** it only work in grub not yaboot

I have tried that earlier but there is no option for me to choose from during boot session.
Beside that ppc does not require to cp vmlinux to boot partition(/hda2) only to boot folder so both root (ubuntu && gentoo)
save their vmlinux in different boot folder.

I dual boot although I don't have a common boot partition and I have pretty much what bruda recommends.

You don't see a menu but you can get yaboot to show you a list by pressing TAB at the boot prompt (I think it's tab, just read what it says at the boot prompt). You can then type in the label of the installation you want to boot.
