I need a module that was not installed (not even as a module) when I built my kernel.
It is the driver CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD, which is commented out in my kernel config.

Is there a way to get this into my modules directory and modprobe it in, or do I have to
recompile the kernel?

Thanks.

Just enable it as a module in your .config and make modules_install.
Then you should be able to simply modprobe it in the running kernel.

This is assuming your running 2.6, I think there may be a little more to it with 2.4.
