Hi everyone,

Not sure how to go about explaining this. If you need more detail, please ask and I'll add them.

OK, *every* 48 days or so (not sure of the exact hour/minutes, etc...) my system cycles back to an uptime of 0 (*BUT* the machine does not reboot/creash... just keeps counting from 0 again! When I do an 'uptime' it'll show 0 days, 4 hours, etc... Doing a 'cat /proc/stat' shows that I've processed a million+ processes in less then ten minutes! (according to this cycled upime) :)

Some commands have more used CPU time then the uptime of the system -- for example, I am running a bfv (BattleField Vietnam) server... which had been running for weeks. The system shows and uptime of, say, 15 minutes... but the bfv process has more then a day of used CPU time already!

Also... any processes already running have odd start times.

This is not a big deal -- it's been happening since I first built gentoo on this box (back in December of 2003). Here's some uptime history of my gentoo box-- http://mrtg.balzer.ca/uptime.html

My box runs my email, www, ssh, VoIP (asterisk PBX), samba file sharting. It is currently running kernel 2.4.22-gentoo-r1 (I know it needs updating).

I regularly update the machine (doing a world update right now). Might just be the kernel... :)

Thanks.

Does the btime value in /proc/stat match yout boting time?
Are your system and hardware time in sync with realtime?
