I have noticed that several packages use different environment variables for directing how they are built. This is usually in cases where there are n options for a given setting instead of just "on/off" that the USE flags allow.

There are at least
LINGUAS = Specify languages for localization support in some packages (OOO, KDE)
VIDEO_CARDS = Specify video cards for x11-drm
CAMERAS = Specify digital cameras for libgphoto2

Probably there are others.

However, is there a file for per-package environment settings (in a similar fashion to /etc/portage/package.use)?

Right now I'm placing all those to my make.conf, because there does not seem to be too many collisions on what are still, more or less, ebuild-specific settings. Specifying them on the command line with every emerge -uvDaN world is not really an option.

Is there a supported equivalent for /etc/portage/package.env (No such thing exists on portage manpage)?
