I just checked my gentoo server today with top, and noticed something strange.....

Code:
Mem:   904568k total (which is normal),    815356k used (NOT normal),   89212k free

I don't really have any programs running besides samba. I had a half-life server running for about a month, and that used %7.0 of the memory which brought the free down to about 5000k :? I just shut that off now, which brings me to the current state. The current uptime is 52 days right now....do you think there could be a memory leak somewhere? I just can't believe that much would be used without me knowing about it. Heres a screenie:

Did you do a free -m? Because the memory isn't being used its being cashed.

Your right....I did free -m and it shows most of it in buffers/cache. So whenever another program needed memory it would automatically make it available?
