Hi all.

In Gnome 2.8 I used to right click in the program menu to create an entry for a program. Since installing 2.10 that entry isn't there any longer.

I only get "Add this launcher to panel" and one other item.

Does anyone know where this has gone? There's no way as far as I can see, to create an entry for a new program.

Thanks alot.
Craig :)

There are two gnome menu-editors in portage (as far as I now):

smeg and denu

smeg depends on python-2.4 which is masked, but I find it the better one.

An editor was being worked on to be native in 2.10 and was not finished by release so it will be there in 2.12 in 3 or 4 months. Untill then use one of the 3rd party editors.

Ahh ok cool. Thanks for the info.

I have been doing it manually by copying and editing /usr/share/applications/files

Thanks for that though. I'll get one of them down :)

I see how gnome generates its menus from the entries in /usr/share/applications. Is it possible to make a directory similar to this in my home directory so only my menus are affected?

Just giving my 0.02c

When simply editing my menu items in Gnome 2.10.1 smeg broke my "desktop" menu, removing the "administration" options.

Deleting the ~/.local directory fixed it but I was back at square one with having menu items I didn't want.

Anyway, just thought I'd give a heads up :)
