I am using a new installation of gentoo and have had this problem since the beginning. Also I'm using 2005.0 and ndiswrapper on an AMD64. I notice the problem especially when I'm compiling, events/0 will use up a sever amount of cpu and takes up way too much cpu time. I have also noticed it using up a lot of my cpu when I'm not compiling, but I haven't been able to tie it to the use of any particular application. Also my computer is just generally slow. I don't know if this has anything to do with events/0, but even when I don't see it running, my computer is just way too slow. For example, Firefox takes almost 5 times longer to load in gentoo than it does on my windows partition! Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

Yeah, I limited my ram to 768, and it didn't work. Events still uses up too much cpu. So far I haven't actually seen it take up 100% of the cpu, but it still takes way to much for events. Often 20% and sometimes as much or over 50%. I don't think that's the problem. Any ideas?

Have you tried the ndiswrapper from CVS?
