Hello;

I'm desperate :

I tried everything to boot an IBM F50 ( chrp ) with the cdrom ( 2005.0 -PPC version) with no luck:

Steps I've taken yet:

8
boot cdrom:\boot\yaboot

Get error :Unknown or corrupt filesystem Can't open config file

Continues with Welcome to Yaboot... and gives me the boot: prompt

Then I did:

cdrom:0,/boot/G3G4

It boots until:
...
NET registered protocol family 17
XFS bad magic number
XFS SB validate failed
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS :Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,2) Rebooting in 180 seconds..

... and he does

I did : cdrom:0,/boot/G3G4 root=/dev/fd0

VFs Cannot open root device "fd0" or unknown-block (0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS :Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) Rebooting in 180 seconds..

... and he does it again

Trying with

cdrom:0,/boot/G3G4 loadramdisk=1 ramdisk_size=128000 root=/dev/ram1

Same error as first try, diff block :

NET registered protocol family 17
XFS bad magic number
XFS SB validate failed
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS :Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,1) Rebooting in 180 seconds..

Somebody got any suggestions, I'm tiered of seeing "Linux/PPC 2.6.10 Have Fun !" on the display of th server, because I'm not having fun

I just want to remind you that you should also post this on the Gentoo on PPC forum. People there are more likely to undestand your troubles.
Unfortunately, since I've never played with a PPC or yaboot, I'm not able to help you. :-(

A moderator can move the thread if he thinks that should be done.
However, I wasn't saying that. I was just telling you that you lose nothing if you post there also or at least make a reference to this thread. That way, people at the Installing Gentoo and Gentoo on PPC forums will be looking at your problem.
Good luck with the install in your system.
