I started a stage1 install last evening and got to "progrssing from stage1 to stage2". I did the emerge --emptytree system and it worked until around package 61. Where wget in emerge began resolving to 1.0.0.0

Thinking that a DNS server somehwere got screwed when mapping the pair gentoo mirror I removed this from my make.conf file.

I then did emerge -f syustem.

It worked for a couple of packages then started resolving to 1.0.0.0 again.

I can kill emerge and do the command again, whereupon it works. But only works for a couple of packages and then does this again. I managed to repeat this a good ten times until it downloaded all the packages it needed.

I looped ping with a count of 1 to force it to resolve the DNS again each time it ran. Lo and behold it works just fine. (looped about 15 times) This has not been a problem before, and is not a problem on other machines running wget.

System: Abit nf7-s2g mobo.
Via builtin vt612x gigabit.
D-link di-524 router and d-link DGS-1005d gigabit switch.
Sempron 2400+
All new from newegg.

I hadn't had any problems emerging any of the other packages in bootstrap, links and irssi work fine too. In fact I'm posting this from inside links.

Thanks for the help!
