Is there a way to program C++ with Eclipse on a ppc?
Why can't I get it emerged if I put eclipse-cdt to package.unmask.

Eclipse already works for Java.

Hi Paolope!

It's easier to use Eclipse itself to handle CDT instalation. All I describe here was performed on x86, but it should work on ppc too. Follow these steps (as root):

1. Go to the menu. Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install

2. Select "Search for new features to install" and "Next >"

3. Add a new remote site:

http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/releases/new

4. The instalation should be pretty straighforward from now. Select the desired CDT version (I recommend 2.1.1) and go on :)

Good luck, Cantão!

Thanks. After starting eclipse as root, it was amazing easy.

Hi Paolope!

Well, just to be sure, execute Eclipse as root only to make updates and install things. For daily usage, do it as a regular user (you should know that, but... :))

Cheers, Cantão!

Of course, thank you for that. I was feeling uncomfortable to start it as root, just to do an upgrade from within, it's not the (gentoo)linux way to do those things
