After installing everything exactly from the manual (using all defaults, no alternatives) and rebooted the system, when it gets ready to load GRUB, all that happens is
Code:
GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB
GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB
GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB_ ...

It just scrolls that on the screen. I have browsed around looking for a solution but still haven't found one that works yet.

I installed Lilo hoping that would work, but when I did that, it just does something similar...

Code:
L 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02

I talked with someone and he suggested that I set the drive in bios to 'AUTO' detect, and everything works perfectly now.

In case you were wondering:

From the grub error collection ( https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-799346.html#799346 ):

According to airhead this can be caused by having your bios detect your disks automatically. Try to set your bios entry to User Type HDD.

[Looks like it works either one way or the other]

Thus, moved to Duplicate Threads.
